Municipal - sustainable - international
Monika Zimmermann works as a freelance expert for urban sustainability, project design and management, as well as an expert, trainer and presenter. International cooperation between cities and the networking of high-level actors are among her core competencies.
She brings experiences
with strategy development, positioning, development of thematic working areas, project design, acquisition, implementation, management, review and evaluation, in her capacities as:
- Member of the national board of the Verkehrsclub Deutschland (VCD)/ Mobility Organisation Germany (since 2022)
- Deputy Secretary General of ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability
(2013-2018),
- Deputy Managing Director of the ICLEI World Secretariat (2013-2018),
- Head of ICLEI's International Capacity Center (2010-2012) and ICLEI's Training Center (1993-2010)
- Municipal environmental and sustainability management were at the center of her work as a young social scientist (1982-1993)
